- Doors - Meridian, the latest fitted kitchen in the Classic range, features a Square Frame Tongue and Groove door with Maia Solid Surface Worktops and a twist – the Door Frame is horizontal rather than vertical; it is made with a Smooth White synthetic coating on an MDF core. The doors are tested by the Furniture Industry Research Association (F.l.R.A.) to satisfy Gold Award Standard BS6222 Level G – Domestic Kitchen Furniture.
- Cabinets - Meridian has an 18mm melamine faced particleboard cabinet with 18mm particleboard backs on base units and 8mm backs on wall units, completely sealed all round to avoid moisture penetration, finished in white colour only. All base carcases are mounted on adjustable legs and come complete with adjustable shelves. The melamine faced particleboard used for Kitchen Direct’s carcases and accessories conform to the following British Standards: BS EN312 – Part 3. Formaldehyde content meets class 1 specification BS7331Direct Surface Wood chipboard BS6222 – Domestic Kitchen Equipment.
- All wall units (340mm deep), likewise have fully adjustable shelving, concealed wall brackets, nickel-plated 100 degree hinges and nickel-plated shelf supports. Both wall and base carcases have a service void at the rear.
- Drawer boxes - The twin steel sided drawer system utilises a 15mm MFC base and back which affords a strength and rigidity capable of carrying a 40kg load. Incorporating concealed guided full extension runners with soft-close mechanism. This gives a perfect self-closing action, silent and effortless. This system has undergone rigorous trials involving 100,000 drawer movements, satisfying BS6222 for general and heaving Domestic Use.
- Worktops - Available in a range of colours, the hard wearing, high pressure laminate faced 39mm thick worktops, meet BS (British Standards) EN438 (1991), heat resistant to 180 degrees Celsius (does not apply to pans directly from hobs, cookers or ovens). These feature a moisture seal below the front edge, which prevents ingress into the core board by surplus water that may run over the front edge of the worktop. Kitchens Direct offer a range of solid surface worktops such as Maia, which satisfy the FIRA Gold Award. Solid surface worktops are extremely durable but can still scratch or burn. However, solid surface worktops can be repaired. We offer a range of solid timber worktops – timber is, of course, a natural product which can be harmed if not regularly treated or is subjected to prolonged exposure to water. Worktops are subjected to a high degree of use within the kitchen area and must be treated with the utmost care. Please read the manufacturer’s guidelines carefully as to the care and maintenance of the worktops.
- Cornice and pelmets - Our Meridian kitchen comes with matching cornice and pelmet.
- Plinth & Back Panels - Meridian comes with matching white colour melamine faced particleboard as standard.
- End Gables - Meridian has matching white colour ends, plain flat design for a contemporary style.
- Accessories - Meridian fitted kitchen has matching accessories manufactured with a Smooth White synthetic coating on an 18mm particleboard core, plain flat design for a contemporary style. This range features a combination of white finished materials which, although they may vary slightly in colour, nonetheless fall within acceptable industry standards and are commensurate with this display kitchen. Items such as pilasters, tambours, stainless steel plinth/doors, cargo units etc are all optional extras and are not included in the cabinet price for this particular kitchen range.
